John Mahama has assured the stakeholders of Electricity Company Ghana that any decision in regards with the future of the company will be made with in-depth consultation and to the benefit of the general public .
He emphasized the need to fix the company to avoid major problems with the nation’s power chain.He stated-
“If we don’t fix the Electricity Company of Ghana,we will continue to have a major problem with our whole power value chain.”
He stated that in the future,privatizing the sector is an idea His government would consider. He explained that His administration would bring in the world Bank to get expertise on the privatization of the sector.

Speaking with a delegation from World Bank on Wednesday January 8th 2025,He mentioned that privatizing the sector could be part of a strategy to enhance the performance of the energy sector.
