The Ghanaian community in Canada is mourning the loss of Alfred Okyere, a 23-year-old international student from Ghana. He was stabbed 17 times by Troy Francis Leclair, a 53-year-old coworker, at his part-time job on Monday, January 29, around 8 p.m.
Alfred had recently moved to Canada four months prior and had started his part-time job just a week before the incident. According to reports, he suffered multiple stab wounds and was rushed to the hospital, where he tragically passed away.
The Saskatoon police stated that the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived but was later arrested nearby. Troy Francis Leclair has been charged with first-degree murder.
