Grief is so many feelings at the same time, a gush of emotions that overwhelms the person experiencing it; the emotion is a mixture of sadness , anger, loss , numbness and confusion as well as helplessness.
These are a few steps to take you through this journey that usually looks like forever.
- Allow yourself to experience the mixture of emotions
- Don’t grieve alone, allow others to share the burden of emotions with you
- Take care of your health while going through the situation of grief;eat well, drink water or any healthy fluids like coconut water and fruit juice, move , go out and get some fresh air
- Acknowledge what you have lost; remember the good things about what or who you have lost and settle on that
- Give it time, they say that time heals all wounds, allow yourself some time to deal with the rush of emotions that you don’t understand
- Get help, don’t keep the pain and the inexplainable emotions to yourself , get support and help in any way you can, from anywhere you can.
- Allow the emotions to leave- you have to decide to let eventually
Grief could be the hardest emotion we face as humans. There are no laid down processes or answers but be assured that it shall surely pass. Things will never be the same but you will be fine .
