Nana Agradaa’s Verdict: Jailed 15 Years. July 3, 2025

Earlier today Thursday 3rd July 2025, Patricia Asieduaa, also known as Evangelist Mama Pat or Nana Agradaa the founder of Heaven Way Church, has been convicted of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretenses. The Circuit Court in Accra found her guilty of luring victims with promises of money multiplication and spiritual blessings, only to swindle them of their money.

In a twist of events, the judge has ordered a pregnancy test for Agradaa before sentencing, which will determine the appropriate custodial arrangements for her.

Richard Asare Baffour Esq., Lead Counsel for the defense, submits that the sentence imposed is disproportionate to the evidence presented, suggesting that prejudicial influences may have compromised the judicial process. The conviction stemmed from charges of charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretenses, wherein the defendant was accused of making unfulfilled promises of financial benefits to multiple individuals.

The defense counsel maintains that the court's decision was influenced by extraneous factors rather than the legal merits of the case. "The court's focus should have been limited to the specific charges, rather than being swayed by the defendant's public persona and past controversies, Baffour stated. The legal team intends to appeal the ruling, citing the disproportionate sentence as evidence of an unfair judicial process. The conviction has elicited varied responses, with some supporting it as a measure of accountability and others viewing it as a targeted action due to Agradaa's high profile and past actions.

However, the defense remains committed to pursuing all available legal avenues to challenge what they perceive as a miscarriage of justice.

Escorted by police after sentencing, Nana Agradaa's message to her church members was to keep praying as she starts her 15-year jail term. Her spouse, Mr Asiamah who also served as an associate pastor in the church, assured Serwaa Amihere that he would stand by his wife throughout her 15-year journey and continue to oversee the church's operations.
