The Electoral Commission of Ghana has clarified its stance on votes that may be cast for the Ghana Freedom Party.
The Ghana Freedom Party is still represented by Akua Donkor. The party represents number 3 on the ballot paper .
With this, the EC informs Ghanaian voters that votes cast for the late Maame Akua will be rejected. According to a press release signed by the deputy chairman, operations, Samuel Tettey.
“Votes cast in favor of Madam Akua Donkor will not be added to the valid votes cast”
Madam Akua Donkor was one of the presidential aspirants for the December 2024 elections. Unfortunately she passed away before the elections. The party she represented, Ghana Freedom Party, nominated Philip Kubi as her replacement.

Unfortunately Phillip Kubi was disqualified by the EC due to alleged irregularities discovered in his nomination forms. The Electoral Commission had offered the party the chance to rectify the issues. The EC ,during a press conference in November 12th 2024 clarified that these irregularities could not be ignored.
