Afua Asantewaa’s Second Singathon Attempt Disqualified by Guinness World Record Due to Break-Time Violation
Ghanaian media personality and singer Afua Asantewaa has once again fallen short of clinching the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon. Her second attempt, which began on December 21, 2024, at Heroes’ Park in the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, was disqualified after a review by record officials.
According to Guinness World Records rules, participants are allowed a 5-minute rest break for every continuous hour of performance. However, Afua’s team breached this rule, leading to disqualification. Specifically, the record adjudicators cited two instances where Afua exceeded the allowed break time.

Despite this setback, Afua remains positive. She announced the outcome on social media, sharing a screenshot of the response from Guinness World Records. “The experience has been a challenging yet rewarding journey, and an incredible experience,” she wrote. “Having had the opportunity to explore my potential on the esteemed Guinness World Records platform on two occasions has led to discovery, growth, development, success, and life-altering events that have shaped my being.”
