The out-going President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo-Addo grants William Ato Essien,the Co-founder of Capital Bank pardon.
William Ato Essien is the Co-founder of Capital Bank. In October 2023,He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for embezzling 90million from the bank.It was alleged that Mensah Otabil was His accomplice.

His sentencing marked the first conviction in regard with mismanagement of the 21 billion cedis allocated from taxpayers to salvage banks
On Monday 6th January 2025,the President, Nana Akuffu-Addo granted him pardon bringing the 15 years sentence to an end
