Daniel Domelevo, the former Auditor-General and member of the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Committee, has denied accusations that the committee was engaged in witch-hunting. He stated, “If it’s truly witch-hunting, it will fail in court.”
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, February 11, Domelevo explained that while the issues raised in the ORAL report may not be conclusive, anyone who believes they have been wrongfully accused has the option to seek legal redress in court.
“If you think we’ve damaged your reputation, you can take it to court,” Domelevo told host Bernard Avle.
Meanwhile, Private Legal Practitioner and former Berekum MP, Captain (Rtd.) Nkrabea Effah Dartey, has raised concerns about the legal standing of the ORAL report. Speaking to Channel One News on Monday, February 10, he argued that the report cannot be used as a basis for prosecution and should instead be viewed as a tool to encourage individuals to explain themselves.
However, Domelevo countered that investigating the cases was outside the committee’s mandate, emphasizing that the ORAL report was based on the evidence received and did not have the authority to conduct probes into the numerous cases filed by individuals.
On Monday, February 10, 2025, the ORAL team presented its report to President John Dramani Mahama in Accra. The President then handed the report to Dr. Ayine, instructing him to begin immediate investigations into the cases outlined.

The ORAL Committee also revealed that it has received a total of 2,417 complaints from individuals and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs). “We received 1,493 calls through the toll-free line, and 924 emails. Thankfully, all calls are automatically recorded, and emails have been preserved for verification and validation,” the committee stated.
