The Electoral Commission has officially declared the Dome Kwabenya seat for the NDC aspirant, Faustina Akurugu. According to the EC, Faustina Akurugu is the rightly elected candidate for the Dome Kwabenya Constituency.
Following the recoalition, Faustina Akurugu secured 50,967 votes and the NPP’S Mike Oquaye had 50,669 votes.
The EC explained that it was their duty to guarantee secure processes. It was also their duty to uphold the decision of the people. She stated that
‘Ours is not to make anybody President or MP. Ours is to ensure that our outcome and processes guarantee that the people’s choice is upheld’
The declaration ends the dispute over the Dome Kwabenya Parliamentary seat .The declaration also implies the scheduled rerun at the Dome Kwabenya constituency will not come off.
