Kwashieman Cluster School Lies in Ruins Amidst Investigation into Ballot Burning Incident

A fire outbreak occurred at the Kwashieman Cluster of Schools in the Ablekum North Constituency. The fire, which started at 1:40 am on December 17, 2024, destroyed disputed ballot papers stored in the school’s library. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but the investigation team is considering all possibilities, including arson.

According to Alex King Narty, the Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service, the team cannot rule out arson as a possible cause of the fire. Additionally, eyewitnesses reported seeing ballot papers being burned outside the school using a lorry tire as fuel.

The Ablekum North Constituency is one of the areas where the opposition party, NDC, claims to have won. However, there is controversy surrounding the declaration of results, with the NPP candidate, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, denying that a winner was declared. The Electoral Commission has also stated that it does not recognize the declaration.

The police are urging the public to remain calm while they investigate the incident.
