National Thanksgiving Service Held in Kumasi to Commemorate the First Republic Day Celebration July 1, 2025

Kumasi, Ghana – July 1, 2025

In a historic and spirit-filled ceremony, Kumasi, the capital of the Ashanti Region, hosted the inaugural National Thanksgiving Service to commemorate Ghana's Republic Day. The event was held at the Calvary Charismatic Center (CCC) and was jointly organized by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, in collaboration with various Christian organizations and church leaders.

The theme of the event centered on for God's Hand in Ghana's Democratic Journey, as believers gathered in solemn reverence to offer praise, worship, and prayer for the nation's peace, progress, and prosperity.

Dr. Amoakohene, in his address, emphasized the necessity of national unity and the significance of recognizing God’s role in Ghana’s 64 years as a republic. He expressed profound gratitude for the religious community’s continuous support in promoting peace and moral integrity in the country.

“We must not take the gifts of freedom, peace, and democracy for granted. Today, we express our gratitude not only for our political independence but also for the strength that has sustained us through challenges and transitions. This moment of thanksgiving reflects the appreciation of a grateful nation,” he stated.

The service featured powerful ministrations from renowned gospel musicians and fervent prayers led by respected clergy from various denominations. Church leaders prayed for Ghana's leadership, youth, economy, and ongoing stability.

Thousands filled the auditorium, including traditional leaders, politicians, civil servants, students, and members of the general public, all united with a common purpose: to express gratitude to God for the nation and to seek divine guidance for the years to come.

The event also called for the National Thanksgiving Service to become an annual tradition on each Republic Day, rotating among different regions.

As Ghana continues to navigate its path toward democracy and development, the inaugural Republic Day Thanksgiving in Kumasi has established a tone of reflection, unity, and gratitude for future celebrations.
