Abass Nurudeen has questioned the authority on which Seth Terpker commented on the Free SHS Scheme. In an interview with TV3 on December 14th 2024, Seth Terkper questioned the financial sustainability of the Free SHS Scheme. He made recommendations for the scheme to adopt the European and USA’s system .This suggested that the scheme should benefit day students and funding be extended to borders only in exceptional cases.

Nurudeen suggested that these comments were in contradiction to the promise John Mahama had made to the Asantehene with regards to the Free SHS Scheme.
‘After all the efforts of John Mahama ,including pledging to the Asantehene to refute claims that his government would cancel Free shs, why would you make such comments?’
He explained that John Mahama had not assumed office yet and such comments were uncalled for. He also questioned who sent Seth Terpker . He further advised Seth Terkpker not to undermine the party’s efforts and the goodwill the party had gained with Ghanaians.
