Parents Encouraged to Supplement Food Supplies as SHS Encounters Food Challenges

The Conference of Heads of Assisted Senior High Schools (CHASS) has called on parents and guardians to supplement food supplies for their wards attending Senior High Schools.

This call comes amidst concerns of financial struggles facing the Free SHS program.

CHASS’ National Secretary, Primus Baro,has expressed that many Senior High Schools are faced with severe food shortages. In an interview with Joy News, He explained that food supplies for the SHS Students was critically low. He mentioned that in some regions; Upper East, Northern and Upper West,the situation was dire.

“Schools are struggling to provide adequate meals and in some cases,basic necessities like cooking oil are completely unavailable “

Earlier CHASS appealed to authorities to postpone the reopening date for the secondary schools but to no avail.

CHASS, therefore admonishes parents and guardians to supplement their children with additional food items to supplement the provision the school makes.
