On January 3rd 2025, an alarming incident occurred when one of the President’s personal bodyguards suddenly lost his footing and fell off. The bodyguard by name Colonel Isaac Amponsah collapsed while standing guard in the chamber.

He collapsed shortly after the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffu-Addo commenced His National Address. Colonel Amponsah has performed His duties diligently. He has served as a dedicated member of the President’s security counsel for a number of years. His sudden loss of balance prompted immediate attention from the Parliament’s medical team who quickly arrived at the scene to assist.
The State of the Nation Address was briefly interrupted by the occurrence but continued swiftly without any further disturbances. President Akuffu-Addo, visibly upset by the incident, ceased the address briefly to ensure that Colonel Amponsah had been attended to. He then continued delivering His speech afterwards.
