President John Mahama has mentioned a reduction in the number of government Ministers.
The move is part of a broad initiative to reset the nation’s government structures .Some ministries have therefore been merged with others.
In an official Executive Instrument dated 9.01.25,President Mahama exercised His constitutional powers to effect the reduction of the ministries. In Section 11(3) of the Civil Service Act 1993 (P.N.D.C.L 327) the President has the authority to implement this move.

The President promised to govern with a reduced number of Ministers. During His elections campaign He promised to reduce the number of Ministers to foster a more focused and results oriented administration .He has reduced the Appointments from 30 to 23.
