Speaking on TV3 on Friday 13.12.24,Seth Terkper invited the people in the diaspora to engage in a discussion concerning the state of the Free SHS policy in Ghana. He questioned the government’s role is sustaining and financing the policy .

Seth Terkper, the former minister of Finance under the NDC administration has urged the government to adapt a model similar to the ones used in Europe and the US.
He explained that in Europe and in US , secondary education was free but was encouraged as day schools. He explained that in these developed countries ,boarding schools were accessed by those who could afford it .In some circumstances,boarding schools were awarded to exceptional or talented candidates due to the high cost of the enterprise.
‘Why don’t we follow their examples?’ – He questioned.
In his statement, He raised concerns about the government bearing the high cost of the Free SHS Policy alone. He further encouraged Ghanaians to adopt the model of advanced countries like Europe and USA in the administration of this policy.
