There has been a dismissal of a petition filled by broadcast journalist and lawyer, Richard Dela Sky. He sought to challenge . A seven member panel of the supreme court, led by Justice Lovelace Avril Johnson unanimously dismissed this petition.

Advocates suggest that the bill is important to protect the heritage and family values of the Ghanaian. Advocates explained that these were being undermined by foreign ideologies . Advocates, critics and concerned groups have condemned the bill as as a violation of fundamental human rights ,such as freedom of expression ,association and equality under the law.
Dela Sky sought to challenge the constitutionality of the human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill. The biil aimed to criminalize any activities or associations of direct and indirect nature towards gay, lesbians,bisexual, queer, transgender (LGBTQI). Sky had sought a declaration that the bill was empty and meaningless. However the court rejected the petition, insisting on the constitutionality of the legislative process for the proposed legislation.
