Afua Asantewaa, the passionate singer who made waves with her attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon, is gearing up for another go! Although she didn’t succeed in her first attempt, the well-known event planner and tourism ambassador has announced plans for a new sing-a-thon in Kumasi, scheduled for December.
In December 2023, Afua drew national attention as she tried to beat the current record held by Sunil Waghmare. After five exhausting days of continuous singing, she faced disqualification. However, her enthusiasm and determination remain strong.
In an interview with Akoma FM’s Tony Best, Afua shared the thrilling news that she has received approval from Guinness World Records for a second attempt. “God willing, in December, I’ll be hosting another singathon in Kumasi,” she stated.
With her team carrying out feasibility studies to identify the ideal location in Kumasi, this edition is set to be even bigger and better. Afua believes that this effort will not only highlight her personal ambitions but also showcase the lively city of Kumasi and its tourism potential.
Her message to her fans? “Just because I wasn’t successful the first time doesn’t mean I’ll give up. I’m still on the journey to becoming a Guinness World Record holder.”
