Kuami Eugene Reveals He’s Still Facing Fallout from ‘Happy Day’ Feature

Ghanaian singer Kuami Eugene has shared the ongoing difficulties he faces after featuring on Sarkodie’s 2020 hit track, ‘Happy Day’. In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, the award-winning artist revealed that the song, which many view as a political endorsement of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), continues to affect him even four years later.

During the conversation, Kuami Eugene explained that he was unaware that ‘Happy Day’ would be interpreted as a political statement when he agreed to collaborate on the track. “I’m still suffering from it,” he confessed.

The ‘Rockstar’ singer mentioned that Sarkodie’s team initially approached him with a different theme for the song. However, after he recorded his part, the direction changed, leading many listeners to see the song as an endorsement of President Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP—a position Kuami insists he never intended to support.

“I didn’t know what conversation led to my involvement, but after I did the chorus based on the first verse I heard from Sarkodie, it ended up that way,” Kuami Eugene added, stressing that he’s still facing the consequences of something beyond his control.
