The 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic to be Officially Dissolved on January 6th 2025

The 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic will officially come to an end on Monday, the 6th of January 2025.The sworn in Members of Parliament are scheduled to convene on the same date to elect a Speaker for the 9th Parliament and also two deputy speakers.

The Planning Committee for the two ceremonies: the dissolution of the 8th Parliament and the Inauguration of the 9th Parliament ,have assured a transparent, peaceful and democratic exercise.

Addressing the media, Camillo Pwamang, the Deputy Coordinator for the Dissolution and Inauguration Committee as well as the Deputy Clerk of Parliament has emphasized the need to reinforce Ghana’s democracy. He stated that they were determined to shepherd the exercise flawlessly while giving utmost regard to constitutional and procedural propriety. He called for national unity in developing Ghana as the transition begins. He stated :

‘This is a time to further strengthen the foundations of our democracy, enhance the integrity of our legislative process and renew our dedication to the service of every Ghanaian citizen by making parliament and its processes more open to the public’

He further explained that this period should be of solemn responsibility and collaborative effort.
