“You Trust Bawumia at Your Own Risk” – Afriyie Ankrah Warns Ghanaians

Afriyie Ankrah Warns Ghanaians

Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Manifesto Committee, has cautioned Ghanaians against placing their trust in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, ahead of the December 7, 2024, elections.

In an interview on Channel One TV, the former Minister of Youth and Sports questioned the credibility of Bawumia’s campaign promises, urging voters to critically assess them to avoid misplaced trust.

Afriyie Ankrah specifically cited campaign pledges such as:

  • Introducing a flat tax rate
  • Removing the e-levy
  • Safeguarding public finances
  • Expanding road infrastructure

He claimed these proposals lack substance, arguing that similar promises from the NPP in the past remain unfulfilled.

“You trust Bawumia at your own risk. This is someone who, together with Nana Addo [President Akufo-Addo], made a litany of promises which remain unmet,” Afriyie Ankrah stated.

He added that it is crucial for Ghanaians to scrutinize political promises and demand accountability, noting that the electorate deserves leaders who can deliver on their word and avoid further disillusionment.

As the 2024 elections draw closer, the NDC continues to challenge the NPP’s track record, positioning itself as the viable alternative to address Ghana’s pressing challenges.
