Western Region Ensures Safe Christmas Celebrations Amidst Cholera Outbreak Fears

The Western Region of Ghana has reassured Christmas revelers that they’ve taken steps to ensure a safe environment for celebrations, despite concerns about the spread of cholera. Authorities have implemented measures to prevent the outbreak from ruining the festive season .

However, health experts are worried about the increased risk of transmission due to the influx of people visiting the area for tourism and family reunions during Christmas. To mitigate this risk, event organizers have put in place mechanisms to control the spread of cholera.

Unfortunately, the number of deaths from cholera in the region has risen from 10 to 16. To stay safe, the public is advised to maintain good hygiene , wash hands thoroughly with soap under running water, avoid physical contact, eat safe by consuming hot and healthy food and ensure to seek medical attention . If you experience diarrhea, drink Oral Rehydration Solution (ORS) as first aid and then visit a health facility for proper care.
